If you are looking for an episode filled with heart, humour, and fantastic food, you are in the right place. This week, we are celebrating a very special occasion: our annual Mother’s Day episode.
There is truly no better way to spend this holiday than catching up with my beloved son, Sam Hymes. As one of my favourite episodes of the year, getting to share a weekday lunch with my son is a rare treat. We always have a brilliant time reminiscing about the old days while musing on all the exciting new chapters ahead.
And, of course, no family gathering is complete without our canine companion—we are happily joined by our dog, Jerry, who is an exceptionally good boy!
A Stunning Setting at Claudio’s Table
For this celebratory meal, we decided to take the podcast on location to the breathtaking new patio at Claudio’s Table. If you have not yet visited, the ambience is simply unmatched. With the sun shining and plates of fantastic food in front of us, it provided the absolute perfect backdrop for an afternoon of great conversation and non-stop laughter.
There is an old saying that goes: “Having a son means your life gets louder, messier, funnier… and better.”
Sitting across from Sam on that patio, I can confirm that this sentiment is completely true in our case. The volume is always up, the jokes are always flying, and life is infinitely better for it.
What We Are Discussing This Week
This episode is packed with stories, debates, and a few touching tributes. Here is a sneak peek at what is on the menu for our conversation:
-
Childhood Memories: We take a trip down memory lane, unpacking some of the funniest and most chaotic moments from Sam’s younger years.
-
The Reality of Modern Social Media: We dive into the ever-changing landscape of the digital world, discussing how social media impacts our lives today and how it has completely shifted since Sam was growing up.
-
All Things DC Sports: It would not be a lunch with Sam without a passionate breakdown of the current state of DC athletics. Whether we are celebrating victories or commiserating over losses, the hometown pride is in full force.
-
A Special Tribute to Bob Saget: As highlighted in this episode’s title, we also take a moment to reflect on the legendary Bob Saget. We discuss the impact of his unparalleled comedy, the warmth he brought to television, and why his legacy continues to resonate with multiple generations.
